Apple crisp reminds me of cool fall nights. This one is super easy to prepare and the kids can even get involved. I recommend doubling the topping if you’re going to have little helpers – it always seems to disappear. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Apple Crisp
Ingredients
- 4 cups apples cored, peeled and sliced
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 1 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup butter softened
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°. Butter a 9 inch pie pan.
-
In a bowl, stir together the sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. With a pastry cutter or two forks, cut in butter until combined.
-
Place apples in pie pan. Drizzle with orange juice. Crumble topping on top of apples.
-
Place pie pan on a rimmed cookie sheet to catch any overflowing juices. Bake for 45 minutes. Let cool slightly and serve warm.
