Make a double batch of these and freeze the extra waffles for a quick weekday breakfast – just pop in the toaster and enjoy! If you don’t have buttermilk on hand, use regular milk and omit the baking soda.
Buttermilk Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3 eggs beaten
- 8 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
Instructions

In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and baking powder.

In another bowl, whisk together the butter, eggs and buttermilk.

Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. Whisk gently to combine. Batter will be slightly lumpy.

Cook according to your waffle iron manufacturer's directions.

Serve with maple syrup.
